DISCUSSION GUIDES

Community Groups:

Read Acts 14:1-28 as a group.

What were Paul and Barnabas doing? Are all Christians called to

do what they were doing? If yes, how so?

In what way does Paul and Barnabas practice of witnessing in

the synagogues of each town first (see verse 1) indicate that

their efforts were deliberate? How can you be deliberate in your

gospel witness?

Acts 14:3 tells us that Paul and Barnabas were "speaking boldly

for the Lord." What might it look like for you to share the good

news boldly? What should believers do if they find themselves

struggling to be bold witnesses? Hint: see Acts 4:23-31.

How did Paul and Barnabas respond when the people of Lystra

mistook them for Greek gods? Why must Christ's witnesses be

on guard against flattery and praise?

In what way do Paul and Barnabas' actions in this passage

demonstrate their relentless commitment to making disciples?

How can we foster a similar approach to disciple making at

Bethany? Why is it important?

What aspects of the report that Paul and Barnabas gave to their

sending church indicate that they were not interested in leading

the believers to pitty, but worship? Do the things that you share

with others tend to lead others to feel sorry for you or praise the

good and faithful God that you serve?

Family Time (For dads, moms and kids):

Read Matthew 5:14-16

What does it mean to be the light of the world?

What is the light that inside of Christians?

How can you shine the light of Jesus to people you meet?
